Ms. Catherine Zuro was raised in Ottawa and attended Queen's University in Kingston, graduating with an Honours B.A. in 1983.  Upon graduation, she returned to Ottawa where she gained experience at the Royal Ottawa Hospital Neuropsychology Laboratory as a Neuropsychology Technician.  She began her graduate studies in Psychology at Carleton University in 1984.  She began working part time as a clinical research assistant at the Ottawa Eating Disorder Clinic at the Ottawa Civic Hospital under the supervision of Dr. Arthur Blouin in 1985.  Ms. Zuro completed her Master's Degree in 1987. 

Her research, which was published in the International Journal of Eating Disorders, examined the relationship between family environment, depression and eating disordered symptoms among women with Bulimia Nervosa. 

Beginning in 1987, Ms. Zuro served as part of the Ottawa Civic Hospital eating disorder assessment team and provided group and individual therapy to hundreds of individuals suffering from eating disorders until leaving the Hospital 1995.  In 1995 she joined the practice of Blouin and Blouin and Associates and and the Ottawa Eating Disorder Clinic where she has been involved in assessment and treatment services since.

In 1991, Ms. Zuro became registered as a Certified Psychological Associate with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.  She has pursued ongoing training in Cognitive Therapy achieving Advanced Certification in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (one form of Cognitive Therapy), from the Albert Ellis Institute in New York.  She currently provides cognitive therapy to children, adolescents and adults in the areas of eating disorders, depression, anxiety, stress management and relationships under the supervision of Dr. Arthur Blouin and Dr. Jane Blouin.  In assisting clients, Ms Zuro applies her 20 years of clinical experience, education and expert supervision to employ a variety of Cognitive Therapy principles and techniques.  Her clients appreciate her sense of humour, acceptance and compassion in treatment.

Ms. Zuro has been married for 21 years and she and her husband are raising two currently teenage boys.  Together they enjoy an active lifestyle, spending much of their free time at local ski hills and hockey arenas across Ontario.
